How often do you ride public transit?

Thousands of Philadelphians rely on SEPTA trains, busses, and trolleys on a daily basis. While there are great benefits to using public transportation (energy conservation, pollution reduction), there are also inherent risks involved. Accidents happen—and mass transit agencies certainly aren’t spared that truth. Case in point:

On August 22nd, 2017, at 12:15am, a Route 100 Norristown High Speed Line train arrived at the 69th Street Transportation Center and crashed into an empty, stationary train.

It’s unclear how fast the train was traveling when it crashed, but passengers described a violent collision. 42 people were injured, including the train’s operator and conductor. 20 ambulances lined the street to transport patients to ten different hospitals. Four people received serious injuries—thankfully non-life-threatening. The Heslin Law Firm would like to wish all of the injured passengers and workers swift recoveries.

This is the second crash in six months involving trains at 69th Street Transportation Center. Were you there?
